Learn how to verify a certified Marquette Method instructor, compare services and know when official instruction is essential.
The short answer
A certified Marquette Method instructor teaches the method’s current protocols and helps users interpret charts within that scope. Certification matters because the monitor is only one component; reproductive stage, goals and protocol determine how readings are used.

Verify certification
Use an official or recognized instructor directory and ask:
- What certification do you hold, and is it current?
- Do you teach directly through an authorized Marquette program?
- Do you have experience with my reproductive stage—regular cycles, postpartum, breastfeeding, perimenopause or infertility?
- How are chart questions handled between appointments?
- What is included in the fee: course, monitor setup, follow-ups, chart review and materials?
- When do you refer to a licensed clinician?
Professional clinical credentials are separate from method certification. An instructor who is also a nurse or physician should clearly state which role they are using.
When certified instruction is especially important
Use a certified instructor when the goal is avoiding pregnancy; postpartum or breastfeeding; cycles are irregular; monitor readings conflict with other observations; the protocol changes; or a chart interpretation would affect sexual decisions. Understand scope and boundaries
An instructor teaches and supports method use. They should not diagnose thyroid disease, PCOS, infertility or pregnancy complications unless separately licensed and practicing in a medical role. Likewise, method instruction is not pastoral counsel or a religious ruling.
Compare fit, not rankings
The “best” instructor is one with verified training, relevant experience, clear availability, transparent fees and a communication style that works for the couple. Be cautious with guaranteed effectiveness, pressure to avoid medical care or unclear certification.
